For a Friend

Tonight the Lord gave me Psalm 91 for someone I care so much about.  I pray that these verses would cover him and his spirit.  I pray for salvation...I pray for hope....I pray for the light of truth to penetrate the lies.

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Obedience

"Prayer is never an acceptable substitute for obedience."
- AW Tozer

So Samuel said: "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams."
--1 Samuel 15:22

Enough Said.

"If we surrender our hearts to God
we may expect a wondrous enlargement.
And who knows what He can do
if we take our hands off
and let Him work? "
-AW Tozer

Enough said.

The God Who Is the Same

“In the beginning You laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of Your hands.

They will perish, but You remain;

they will all wear out like a garment.

Like clothing You will change them

and they will be discarded.

But You remain the same,
and Your years will never end.”
Psalm 102:25-27

“Let the God who is the same
yesterday, today, and forever
steady your world today.
Whatever challenge or change confronts you,
let it drive you toward the God who never changes,
a God so stable and strong
you can lean on Him forever.”

Don't Panic

"When you come to your wits’ end
and feel inclined to panic— don’t!
Stand true to God
and He will bring out His truth in a way
that will make your life an expression of worship."

The Human Heart

"There is only one Being Who can satisfy
the last aching abyss of the human heart,
and that is the Lord Jesus Christ."
Oswald Chambers

July 8

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord,
thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. "
- Jeremiah 29:11

Today is my last day being 32. I am always so excited about leaving an old year behind me and looking ahead to a new year. There is so much hope when you are a child of God. Knowing that the Lord plans my ways and has proven to me in the past that His ways are so much better than my own, leaves me with optimism for my future.

So I'm looking forward to being 33 and seeing what all this new year of life will hold for me!

Thankful

"For I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the Lord,
"Plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

Every once in a while I stop and take a thoughtful look over my life...the choices I have made, the road the Lord has taken me down and where I am at this present moment.  I am so thankful that the Lord loves me enough to want the best for me.  That He has loved me enough to really keep me from making some poor choices on my own.  I can hardly take credit for even being obedient, cause there have been so many times where I either reluctantly went along with the Lord's plans, or the decisions were almost forced on me....but again, I look at my life now and cannot thank Jesus enough for guiding me and for really saving me from choices I wanted so badly in past.  HE knows what is best for me.  Why do we want to settle for GOOD when He wants to give us the BEST?  As Oswald Chambers puts it, "The greatest enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but good choices which are not quite good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best."

I couldn't agree more.

Just feeling really thankful this morning for the Lord's hand on my life.

Thankful that He came to give me life and for that life to be abundant.

Leave it to the Dutch

I started watching this video and instantly thought it must be Dutch, the guy looks Dutch, the wooden shoes, the candy tin, then the postcard confirmed it....Eindhoven. I've been there. :)

Anyway, here is a little fun video, just because.

Sweet

"Those blessings are sweetest
that are won with prayer and worn with thanks."
Thomas Goodwin

I've shared this one before....but I think I needed to remind myself.   <3
